The Southwood CDD held its October meeting on Oct. 12 at the Southwood Community Center and covered the following items:
Park & Recreational Facilities Update
Chairman Ramba gave an update on his meeting with Councilman Gil Ziffer and representatives of the HOA, St. Joe and Premier Homes. At the meeting, the group discussed the potential for St. Joe to deed five acres of land at the north end of Southwood to the CDD for construction of a pool and for the City to deed 20 acres of land at the south end of Southwood to the CDD to construct other recreation facilities/fields. The CDD would own and control both parcels.
The CDD board directed its legal counsel to draft a letter to the City about transferring ownership of 20 acres to the CDD and designated Supervisor Kelley to work St. Joe to identify a five-acre location for the pool. Engineer Keith Dantin and Operations Manager Robert Berlin will assist with the process.
The CDD has received notice of a claim related to an alleged injury on the Tot Lot. The CDD’s insurance company has assigned an investigator to the case. No litigation has been filed yet.
The CDD approved new service agreements with its engineer firm and communications firm.
The CDD approved an agreement about the process for dedication and acceptance of common areas and improvements when new developments are completed. For example, irrigation improvements installed by the developer must be compatible with the CDD’s irrigation plans.
Operations Manager Robert Berlin is working with the City on the plans for Halloween and will work with the CDD’s communications firm to communicate street closures and additional details as soon as possible.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Southwood Community Center. The agenda will be posted online a week before the meeting.
